The dominate art work a stylistic 4 petaled flower on the top that over lays 8 smaller petals, the 4 Noble truths leading to the Dharma wheel's 8-fold path. This portable altar table and is also used as a reading desk. It was used by a high lama to read and teach the Tibetan Buddhist scriptures. The end supports pivot underneath the table top (the entire end boad with the Ashoka Blossom) and then the front support (the entire board with the offering bowl, cintamani etc.) pivots over the top of the two end supports into a cavity that is under the top. The gold work on the front, apron and sides is 24kt gold. The front support on this table was broken and repaired decades ago, this is evidenced by the old wax trapped under the the glue, visible at the4 bottom right side of the front. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity brush signed by a monk at the Sange monastery.
